The President-Elect appoints new members and Chairs for the next SSC operating year (July/June). Replacement of members and Chairs stepping down from their appointed roles during the SSC operating year is the responsibility of the President. Terms and Duties Purpose: The SSC will celebrate its 50th year since it started in 1977. The ad hoc SSC 50th Anniversary Committee will help plan a year-long celebration for 2027. Key Responsibilities: Plan activities that reflect the diversity and interests of the SSC community.Engage other members, where appropriate, to spearhead the activities.The Committee is expected to comply with the policies of the SSC (https://ssc.ca/en/about/policies-and-procedures) and act in a timely manner.Reporting: The first report should be at the October Board meeting to approve the budget for activities. Additional reporting may occur at the December and March Board meetings, or others, as needed. Meeting: The Committee meets as required to meet its responsibilities. Virtual meetings are encouraged.
