Professor Miklós Csörgö is Professor Emeritus at Carleton University. He has made many outstanding contributions to research and teaching of probability and statistics over a long and distinguished career. He is widely recognized as leading international researcher in these areas with papers and books covering a wide area of mathematical statistics. His research has been recognized through the award of many honours including Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Gold Medal of the Statistical Society of Canada, Killam Senior Research Scholarhip and foreign membership in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Miklós has also contributed much to his profession through supervision and mentoring of many graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, extensive work on editorial boards and on NSERC Committees
