Professor Marc Moore retired from the École Polytechnique in Montréal in 2003. Marc has an impressive record of service to the Canadian statistical community. He was Program Chair for two annual meetings of the SSC, Québec (1987) and Wolfville (1993), President for the NSERC Statistical Sciences Selection Committee twice (1984, 1999). He has been the editor for the Canadian Journal of Statistics (1989-1991), President of the SSC (1995), and a member of several SSC committees. Marc has always been an active researcher in spatial statistics with more than 25 papers, and a good mentor for graduate students, supervising 5 Ph.D. and 10 M.Sc. students.
