The 2002 recipient of the Gold Medal of the Statistical Society of Canada is Muni Srivastava.
Muni is an internationally recognized and highly productive scholar, who has made deep theoretical and applied contributions to our subject. He has an outstanding reputation as a researcher in multivariate statistical analysis where he has made many important contributions that include two widely used books in this area. He has also worked in many other areas of statistics with substantial contributions in sequential methods, robustness, and goodness of fit and an important sequence of contributions over the past twelve years on aspects of statistical quality control. Muni is well known as an excellent expositor and teacher and has served the profession and his university in many ways over a long and very productive career.
