The SSC Land Acknowledgement for opening remarks at events for members and the public.

The SSC Office, located in Ottawa, is on the unceded Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.

We further acknowledge that this land that makes up Turtle Island and on which we the members of the Society live and work differs from coast-to-coast-to-coast; some treatied and some not, with much remaining unceded.

The SSC respects and affirms the inherent and Treaty Rights of all Indigenous Peoples and honours their long history of welcoming many Nations to this beautiful territory.

A shortened Land Acknowledgement may be used at small, internally focused events, such as committee, and section meetings.

The Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) acknowledges that across this land we now call Canada, Indigenous Peoples have been, and continue to be, the traditional stewards and keepers of the land.
