Department of Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) is a dynamic and integral part of the College of Arts and Science, and is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. The department is home to 17 dedicated research faculty members, with 6 specializing in statistics. The research interests of our statistics faculty are diverse and cutting-edge, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education, preparing them for a wide range of careers in academia, industry, and beyond.

Students in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics build a robust foundation in both statistical and mathematical principles. They have the opportunity to specialize in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics. The department offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in both Mathematics and Statistics. The department is also known for its strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research and collaboration, addressing complex problems in fields such as quantum innovation, medicine, economics, social sciences, computer science, and engineering. Students in the department benefit from a supportive and stimulating academic environment, preparing them for successful careers in academia, industry, and beyond. General Information

NOTE – To be environmentally conscious, the SSC Board decided to no longer provide printed programs. 

We suggest you download the free WHOVA app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. This app allows you to view the program, set up your personal agenda, and connect with fellow attendees. The program is available in both English and French, depending on your device's language settings. You can use TRACKS to navigate through the program. All registrants will receive an email with instructions on using WHOVA for SSC2025.

Alternatively, the SSC meeting website offers the entire program online or as a PDF file, with and without abstracts, which you can print if needed.

Please note that by attending the SSC Annual Meeting, all attendees agree to adhere to the SSC Code of Conduct.
 

Directions

All SSC2025 talks are scheduled to take place in the Health Science Building and the Arts Building. Please note that most buildings at USask, including the Health Science Building and the Arts Building, are connected by a tunnel system, which can be useful in case of inclement weather.

The Opening Reception on Sunday, May 25, from 18:00 to 20:00, will be held in the Convocation Hall of the Administration Building.

The SSC banquet on Tuesday, May 27, will be at the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon Hotel (612 Spadina Crescent E, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3G9). The walking distance from the USask campus to the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon Hotel is 1.9 km (about 26 minutes). Driving takes approximately 5 minutes, and public transportation is also available.
 

Registration 

Registration will open in January. Registered participants must pick up their badges and food / banquet vouchers at the Registration Desk at Room 1010, Atrium E-wing of the Health Science Building the times indicated below. Walk-ins must register online and present their receipt at the registration desk. If you have already registered for the conference but wish to add a workshop, please contact es-admin@ssc.ca for instructions or come to the registration desk before the workshop on Sunday morning.

The Registration Desk is located in Room 1010, Atrium E-wing of the Health Science Building. Hours are:

Sunday, May 25: 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Sunday May 25: 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, Convocation Hall of the Administration Building (location of the Welcoming Reception)
