Join the Book Club 2023
The Accreditation Services Committee of the SSC will be continuing the book club initiative for accredited members in 2023, following the success of the 2022 initial version.
Organizers: Dr. Kathryn Morrison, A.Stat. (Precision Analytics Inc) and Dr. Fernando Camacho, P.Stat. (DAMOS Inc)
The goal of the book club is to give working applied statisticians an opportunity for professional development by working through an applied textbook. The club will meet virtually for 90 minutes once monthly. The Accreditation Services Committee of the SSC will be continuing the book club initiative for accredited members in 2023, following the success of the 2022 initial version.
The book selected for this year is Hernán MA, Robins JM (2020) “Causal Inference: What If”. Boca Raton: Chapman & Hall/CRC. The book is available free online: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/miguel-hernan/causal-inference-book/
When: The sessions will occur once a month (please see schedule below) excluding summer months to allow for holidays.
Time: 2:30-4:00 PM EST
There will be seven sessions in total in 2023:
- Apr-07-23: Fundamental topics in causal inference I
- May-05-23: Fundamental topics in causal inference II
- Jun-02-23: Fundamental topics in causal inference III
- Sep-08-23: Review + introduction to advanced methods in causal inference
- Oct-06-23: IPW and marginal structural models
- Nov-03-23: Propensity scores
- Dec-01-23: G Methods
