Queen's University welcomes three new tenure-track faculty members in statistics/biostatistics in 2020–2021. 

Dr. Hok Kan Brian Ling joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University as an assistant professor in July 2020 after he obtained his PhD in Statistics from Columbia University. His research interests include survival analysis, event history analysis, latent variable model, nonparametric estimation, and shape-constrained inference.

Dr. Wei Tu joined the Department of Public Health Sciences and the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) as an assistant professor in January 2021. He obtained his PhD in Statistics from University of Alberta in 2020. His research interests are in high-dimensional statistics, causal inference, statistical machine learning, and its application to medicine. Together with the diverse pool of researchers in CCTG and Queen’s University, he looks forward to exploring the interaction between data science and cancer clinical trials and improving the way we do cancer trials with data science and AI. 

Wei Tu

Dr. Zihang Lu joined the Department of Public Health Sciences at Queen’s University as a biostatistician and assistant professor in July 2020. Prior to joining Queen’s University, he also worked at the Hospital for Sick Children as a biostatistician. He holds a PhD and an MSc in Biostatistics, both from the University of Toronto. His research interests include statistical methods for data integration and dimension reduction, latent variable and mixture modelling, and Bayesian statistics.
