Distinguished Service Award

 

The Distinguished Service Award is intended to honour a person who has contributed substantially and over a period of several years to the operation or welfare of the SSC.

Nominations
  • A nomination consists of a recent curriculum vitæ, at least two letters of support, and a suggested citation to accompany the award. 
  • A recipient of the Service Award must be a member of the SSC.
  • Nominations are submitted to the Chair of the Awards Committee at sscawards-chair@ssc.ca.
  • The SSC values and encourages Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in all of its nominations and awards. Please see the SSC guidelines on implicit bias (pdf). 

David Binder, Distinguished Service Award 2011

David Binder
The 2011 SSC Distinguished Service Award is conferred to David A. Binder, retired Director General of the Methodology Branch at Statistics Canada. The announcement was made at the Society’s Annual Meeting held in Wolfville, NS on June 12-15. The distinction is awarded to an SSC member who has made substantial contributions to the running or welfare of the SSC, over a period of several years.
