The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Dalhousie University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track or tenure-track position in statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics and a demonstrated record of quality research. Priorities for this appointment are the excellence of the candidate, ability to initiate a successful funded research program (involving the training of HQP); and potential for excellence in teaching at all levels of statistics—both undergraduate and graduate. This position has an emphasis on statistical research with linkage to the emerging field of data science. Possible areas of interest include, but are not limited to, statistical computing, medical statistics and interdisciplinary research.
The division of Statistics within the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Dalhousie is a collaborative group with long-standing interactions with Dalhousie’s Faculty of Medicine and established research excellence in computational biology and evolutionary bioinformatics, machine learning and statistical applications in marine biology and oceanography.
The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter.
