The Canadian Journal of Statistics (CJS) is our official journal. For that last 3 years, we have benefited from the vision, dedication, and scientific excellence of CJS’s editor, Johanna G. Nešlehová. Johanna has tirelessly worked for the Canadian Journal of Statistics and has had many accomplishments including transitioning to online-only publication, introducing a new LaTeX template, revising the editorial policies regarding data sharing, launching an ongoing special issue celebrating award-winning Canadian statisticians, and increasing the impact factor. While the scope of CJS includes original work in the theory and application of statistics, Johanna has been working in the latter part of her term on an initiative to enhance the application of statistics as part of the scope. More details on this initiative to enhance the publication of applications and case studies will be forthcoming. Thank you, Johanna, for your leadership of CJS.

I am excited to announce that Alexandra M. Schmidt, professor of biostatistics at McGill University, was appointed by the executive committee to be the editor for 3 years starting January 2025. Alex has an outstanding record of scientific accomplishment and extensive experience in editorial roles. She has expressed multiple ideas to strengthen the journal including the creation of a webinar series with discussion papers, organization of special issues, and encouragement of publications from early career researchers graduated from Canadian universities. I look forward to working with Alex and seeing where she takes our journal. Welcome Alex!
