The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Université de Montréal is pleased to announce that Janie Coulombe is joining the department as an assistant professor. Following undergraduate and master’s degrees at Université de Montréal, in 2021 Janie received her PhD in biostatistics from McGill University under the joint supervision of Erica Moodie and Robert Platt by completing a thesis for which she received the Pierre-Robillard Award. She continued as a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University working on projects related to the imputation of missing values and informative observation in constructing adaptive treatment strategies. She also worked on improving the robustness and efficiency of estimators in causal inference as part of a virtual research internship with Marie Davidian of North Carolina State University. Despite being an early career researcher, Janie has already contributed a lot to the SSC, notably on the student and recent graduate committee and on the organizing committee of the student conference.
