Hyukjun (Jay) Gweon was recently appointed to a probationary position as an assistant professor in Western’s University, Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences. Jay holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Waterloo. Before joining Western, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His current research interests include sparse-labeled data analysis with statistical learning and its application and predictive model assessment. He is also interested in predictive analytics in the insurance field.

 

Last year, Kyle Leistner was hired as a lecturer in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences at Western University. Kyle has over 10 years of experience in the life insurance industry. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
