Assistant Professor of Biostatistics
(Tenure-Track Position)
The School of Public Health at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in biostatistics. Candidates with research interests and expertise in categorical data analysis, methods for observational data, spatial statistics, or analysis of clustered data are especially encouraged to apply, although candidates with expertise in any area of biostatistics will be considered.
Qualifications include a doctorate in statistics or biostatistics, demonstrated potential as an outstanding researcher, superior oral and written communication skills, and evidence of a commitment to collaborative research. Besides developing an independent research program, the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching core graduate courses in biostatistics, supervising graduate students, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. The successful applicant will be expected to spend a significant portion of his or her time collaborating with faculty in the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
The School of Public Health, a new interdisciplinary entity at the University of Saskatchewan, offers graduate training in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, and vaccinology and immunotherapeutics. The Collaborative Graduate Program in Biostatistics, offering MSc and PhD degrees, was established in June 2009 in conjunction with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Department of Community Health and Epidemiology. In November 2009, a PhD program in epidemiology was established. Working closely with world-renowned research centres, the School of Public Health’s faculty has academic and research expertise in Aboriginal peoples’ health, environmental health, global health, health management and health services, rural and agricultural health, social and behavioural health, vaccinology and immunotherapeutics, and veterinary public health.
