The Department of Mathematics at UQAM announces the opening of a regular faculty position in Actuarial Science. UQAM's actuarial programs and faculty have been awarded the Center of Actuarial Excellence distinction by the Society of Actuaries and are accredited under the University Accreditation Program (UAP) of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA). The department hosts The Co-operators Chair in Actuarial Risk Analysis (CARA), which specializes in property and casualty insurance, the first actuarial research chair in Quebec. The candidate will develop and maintain an original research program and supervise graduate students and undergraduate trainees. He or she will be expected to teach at all three levels and will be invited to participate in the activities and research themes of the CARA Chair

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. in Actuarial Science or in a discipline related to Actuarial Science; demonstrated interest in property and casualty insurance, and a desire to pursue research and teaching in the field.
  • Ability to develop an original research program in order to obtain funding from major granting agencies.
  • Functional command of spoken and written French.

STRENGTHS

  • Publications in the field of property and casualty insurance. Ability and willingness to integrate with the themes and activities of the CARA Chair.
  • Hold (or be in the process of obtaining) the title of Associate or Fellow of the CIA.
