DEPARTEMENT OF SOCIAL AND PREVENTIVE MEDICINE – UNIVERSITÉ LAVAL

NOTICE OF RECRUTEMENT 

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine of Université Laval has a tenure-track position to fill. The successful candidate will be employed as an Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on prior experience and time in rank.

Job summary

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

•    Teaching biostatistics courses in French and supervising graduate students mainly in MSc and PhD programs in epidemiology and biostatistics.
•    Developing a methodological research program in his/her area of expertise and in collaboration with research teams in epidemiology, population health, clinical research, and public health. The clinical and population health research teams of the University-affiliated research centers have all the resources necessary to welcome the successful candidate into their team. 
•    Participate actively in departmental and inter-departmental activities including internal and external committees. In particular, the candidate will be invited to participate in the development and implementation of a PhD program in biostatistics. 

Requirements

The candidate should have a doctoral degree in Biostatistics or in a closely related field. He/she should have a promising research program with associated funding or demonstrate the ability to develop one. He/she should have appropriate experience in data analysis and methodological support in clinical or epidemiological research as well as experience in teaching and supervising postgraduate research projects. The candidate should also demonstrate an aptitude for team work. Experience in statistical consultation is desirable. If the candidate does not already speak French fluently he/she should demonstrate his/her motivation to develop this competence within one year.
