SENIOR BIOSTATISTICIAN

SYREON’s team has an immediate opening for a Senior Biostatistician in their head office in Vancouver, Canada.

The Senior Biostatistician is involved in the day-to-day operation for all Biostatistics projects and key functions, including statistical programming, validation, quality control, analysis, and related reporting. The Senior Biostatistician will also provide guidance, training and supervision to the Biostatistics staff, prioritize responsibilities and ensure that projects are completed as per specifications and timelines. 

This position requires an advanced understanding of statistical principles and methodologies, plus ability to communication statistical considerations to both sponsors and project team members who may or may not share this level of expertise. In addition, the Senior Biostatistician will actively work with Syreon’s Management Team to ensure that corporate objectives in the provision of statistical services, both within Syreon’s clinical trial as well as for consulting projects.

 

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, implementing and delivering the Biometric milestones in accordance with Syreon’s contractual obligations.
  • Provide statistical input regarding the design of new projects
  • Documenting analytical tasks providing sufficient technical specification to completely identify the data selection criteria and statistical methodologies employed
  • Use advanced statistical software (particularly SAS) for analytical needs
  • Overseeing and analyzing data collected by Syreon’s research programs
  • Ensuring data quality, implementing Quality Control procedures and adherence to Biostatistics SOPs by all Biostatistics staff.
  • Developing, implementing, enforcing and revising standard methodological processes, ICH CGP standards and procedures.
  • Assisting in the development and the implementation of cost effective and innovative approaches to collecting, validating, analyzing and reporting clinical data
  • Participating in internal and client/sponsor presentations
  • Interacting with sponsors to ensure complete understanding of Syreon’s Biostatistics responsibilities and sponsors’ expectations relative to projects when necessary
  • Establishing standard benchmarks and trends for processes and utilize standard techniques to review and analyze operations.

 

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in statistics or biostatistics, health sciences or related discipline, PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of three years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Proven ability to delegate work and supervise subordinates
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GCP Guidelines & regulatory requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including adaptability, professional integrity and customer service
  • Excellent functional knowledge of statistical systems and software.
