Analyst - Business Intelligence
Two (2) temporary, full-time position
These are exciting opportunities for solutions-oriented, analytically minded BI professionals to support data-driven decision-making at Peel Regional Police – one of Canada’s most progressive police services.
As an Analyst - Business Intelligence within our Analytics Bureau, you will be responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of police data to provide real-time, data-driven solutions for business insights, and support data-driven decision-making within the organization through descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
More specifically, as an Analyst – Business Intelligence, you will:
- Apply various statistical methods and techniques, and automate processes for data collection and analysis to aid data-driven decision-making, organizational strategies and initiatives.
- Design, develop and troubleshoot all features and functionality of Business Intelligence solutions and platforms.
- Apply data mining methods and techniques to large organizational data to discover anomalies, patterns, trends and correlations to predict outcomes.
- Develop and design data visualizations, dynamic dashboards, statistical data models, algorithms, data mining, queries, and reports; handle data requests from FOI, public, internal departments and Chief's Management Group (CMG) to - provide and interpret data, assess data quality and implement strategies for data governance.
- Operate database software to design, govern and maintain internal specialized analytical databases for internal organizational use.
- Liaise with stakeholders to standardize the delivery, validity and security of dashboards, and with end users to ensure data visualizations are contextually valid and provide the correct insight; troubleshooting/questions on Analytics data deliverables, data collection and data analysis on initiatives/projects.
- Recommend improvements to streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability and value.
- Produce technical and business documentation, guided by statistical understanding, business context and data governance.
- Remain current on technology developments within fields relevant to current and future Business Intelligence and Reporting initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
In the role of Analyst - Business Intelligence, you will apply the following education, experience and skills:
- A university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Statistics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Data Science Programming Certifications (e.g. Python certification, R certification, SAS certification,
SQL certification, JavaScript certification, etc.) and Dashboard Development Tools Certifications (e.g. Power BI certification, Tableau certification, WebFOCUS certification, Spotfire certification, etc.) preferred.
- A minimum of four (4) years` experience in development of Business Intelligence solutions and Data Science Techniques.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function.
- Demonstrated knowledge of network software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of designing and developing dashboards and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
- Knowledge of database administration, languages and platforms (including cloud) preferred.
- Knowledge of Niche and CAD databases preferred.
- Knowledge of law enforcement preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data warehousing, data model design and SQL Server Database administration.
- Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, research methodology and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Must have received, or be scheduled to receive the approved full dosage of COVID-19 vaccination by date of application in accordance with the recommendations of Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health
These positions require staff to be onsite in the office during their work schedules; working remotely is not available.
The wage range for this temporary, full-time position is $35.18 to $59.28 per hour.
