Applications are welcome for the above research position in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Dalhousie University. The specific research area is in longitudinal statistical analyses of imaging data from various diagnostic imaging devices. This research has excellent potential for translation to clinical practice to enhance care of patients with glaucoma, an age-related eye disease in 2% of the population aged over 40 years that can lead to visual disability and blindness.
Candidates should have completed a PhD in a relevant area such as biostatistics, image processing or time‐series analyses. Previous experience in eye research is not necessary. A solid foundation in biostatistics and programming (e.g., R, Matlab or C+) is essential. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to generate research ideas.
The successful candidate will work in a vibrant and collaborative environment consisting of ophthalmologists, visual scientists, clinical and non-clinical post-doctoral fellows, postgraduates and research coordinators. Halifax is located on the beautiful east coast of Canada. It is a city of around 500,000 inhabitants, and has a rich academic and cultural environment.
The post is initially for a 3‐year period. Salary is commensurate with experience, but is in the range of $45‐60 K.
