Dalhouise is located on the south-end of the Halifax peninsula, a 15 minute walk from the main hotels and downtown area. The Halifax Waterfront
The Halifax waterfront has a boardwalk ranging from the Cunard Centre (location of the banquet) and its neighbouring Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, to the distinctive Purdy's Wharf office complex and its nearby Cows ice cream and t-shirt store. Along the way are a number restaurants with offerings varying from pub-style fare to fine dining locations like the Bicylcle Thief in Bishop's Landing. The Maritime Museum is also accessible from the boardwalk. The boardwalk is a 15 minute or shorter walk from the hotels and a 30 minute walk from the conference location at Dalhousie, although it should be borne in mind that the return trip will require a climb.

Citadel Hill
First established in 1749 as a defensive fortification, Citadel Hill has been rebuilt four times. It has been restored to its Victorian era status as a National Historic Site of Canada. Located within easy walking distance of the main hotels, on a sunny day, the hill provides views of the harbour and peninsula that are worth the effort of the mild climb.

Halifax Public Gardens
The Halifax Public Garden is a 17 acre formal Victorian public garden. Popular with locals and visitors alike it has Sunday afternoon band concerts around the time of the conference. It is minutes away from the main hotels.

Spring Garden Shopping Area
The strip along Spring Garden road is minutes away from the main hotels. Because of its close proximity to the University it is popular with students. It provides a wide variety of pubs, coffee shops and shopping excursions.
