Mohamed Abdolell, Dalhousie University

Mohamed Abdolell, P.Stat, is CEO and Founder of Densitas Inc, a medical device software company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is also an Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Education/Informatics, Dalhousie University. His company develops decision tools and an advanced imaging analytics platform for digital mammography. Mohamed studied statistics (BSc) and biostatistics (MSc) at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1995. He began his career as a biostatistician at Mount Sinai Hospital, moving on to work at Princess Margaret Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, before settling at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax in 2005. He has worked as a consulting biostatistician and as a researcher, and his expertise ranges from the design and analysis of RCTs to observational studies. His interests are in statistical learning algorithms applied to all areas of medicine, and his research focuses on breast cancer screening and mammographic density.
Fabrice Larribe, Université du Québec à Montréal

Fabrice Larribe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) since 2005. He obtained his PhD degree at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of Sabin Lessard. His current research interests include the developments and applications of stochastic processes to model genealogies, as well as genetic mapping methodologies in general.
Khalid Lemzouji, Senior Statistical Consultant

Khalid Lemzouji holds a BEng in Chemical Engineering, a BS in Statistics from Concordia University and an MS in Biostatistics from the University of Alberta. Khalid has been a statistical consultant for the last 10 years in public health and ecology in Montana, Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC. Areas of interest include statistical inference, spatial-time series, and data mining for wildlife, fish, hydrology, and surface and ground water data sets. Currently Khalid is working as a subject matter expert in machine learning and reliability modeling for pipelines at Enbridge.
Géraldine Lo Siou, Alberta Health Services

Géraldine Lo Siou is a biostatistician with the Alberta’s Tomorrow Project (ATP), a longitudinal study launched in 2000 that has enrolled 55,000 Albertan adults to investigate the causes and prevention of cancer and chronic diseases. Prior to joining the ATP team, she worked with the Groupe de Recherche sur les Aspects sociaux de la Santé et de la Prévention (GRASP) and the Department of Social Psychiatry at the Fernand-Seguin Research Centre in Montréal. She has served as a member of the SSC Accreditation Services Committee between 2013 and 2015. Géraldine obtained an MSc in Statistics from the University of Montréal and an MSc in Mathematics, Statistics and Applications from the University of Montpellier in France. She has a particular interest in applying statistical methods in epidemiology, population health and cancer research.
Charles Paltiel, Insurance Corp of British Columbia

Chuck Paltiel is a statistician at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Chuck obtained a BSc in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Victoria and an MSc in Statistics from Simon Fraser University. Prior to joining ICBC in 2007 he held the positions of Managing Director of the UBC Statistics Department consulting office (SCARL) and Biostatistician at the BC Cancer Agency. Chuck received his P.Stat. in 2010 and is currently serving on both the Accreditation and Accreditation Services Committees.

Judy-Anne Chapman, PhD, P.Stat., PStat®(ASA), (Retired) Professor of Public Health Sciences, Queen’s University and Senior Biostatistician, Canadian Cancer Trials Group, organized the SSC’s first Section, Biostatistics; was Public Relations Officer (1992-96); President, SSC Southern Ontario Regional Association (1997-99); Chair, Canadian Caucus for Women in Statistics (1997-98); on Accreditation Committees including Chair, Interim Accreditation Implementation Committee (2003-04) and Initial Accreditation Committee (2004-06); A.Stat. Mentoring Facilitator (2004-06); SSC Member of International Accreditation Committee (ASA, RSS, SSAI, SSC; 2011-14); SSC Membership Committee (2015-). Judy-Ann worked on setting-up ASA Accreditation: Task Force (2004-05); Ad Hoc Committee (2007-09); Implementation Committee (2009-10); Accreditation Committee (2010-14). Currently, she continues transdisciplinary breast cancer research on US NIH-funded CISNET-BOLD Working Group; volunteers with Harvard Dr. Paul Goss’ International Cancer Group; sits on Translational Sub-Committee of REACT trial, Imperial Clinical Trials Unit – Cancer, UK (2013-); pursues personal research on competing risks of death and statistical standardization of clinical breast cancer biomarkers; is Editor, Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Edward Chen, Statistics Canada

Edward Chen, P.Stat., has been employed at Statistics Canada since 1986. Currently, he is a chief in the Social Survey Methods Division and devotes his energy to the most successful Census of Population in the history. He leads a team in improving the address register and ensures the coverage of the Census. Previously, he was a chief and devoted over 25 years to the excellence of Statistics Canada’s household survey program. Edward is very active in the statistical and local communities. He was Treasurer of the Statistical Society of Canada from 2005 to 2009 when he started putting the SSC finance in good order. He was elected as Treasurer again in 2014 and also elected as a member of the Accreditation Appeals Committee. Edward was Treasurer of the Statistical Society of Ottawa from 1999 to 2003 and treasurer of other organizations before.
Patrick Farrell, Carleton University

Patrick J. Farrell is a Professor of Statistics at Carleton University. He is currently a Special Advisor to the Dean of Science working on projects related to data science and online education. From 2007 to 2015, Professor Farrell served as the Director of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, during which time the School opened a Consulting Centre. Professor Farrell was accredited by the SSC in 2004, and was a member of the Accreditation Appeals Committee from 2008 to 2010. He has also served the Society as Treasurer (2003-05), President of the Survey Methods Section (2000-01) and University Representative (1997-2003), and through membership on various committees, including the Membership Committee (2007-10), the Pierre Robillard Award Committee (2006-07), and the Elections Committee (2001-02).
