Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) position in Big Data Science
The University of Winnipeg invites applications from outstanding scholars with strong research profiles for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) position in Big Data Science.
This will be The University of Winnipeg’s seventh Canada Research Chair and is expected to elevate the University’s profile in the realm of Big Data Science. We are looking for a candidate with expertise in applied statistics, data analytics, data mining, information retrieval, and/or machine learning. We are especially looking for a candidate who will provide leadership in the development of big data applications in areas such as bioinformatics, database science, genomics, geovisualization, image processing, multivariate analysis, and statistical computing and learning.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent qualifications, be a nationally or internationally recognized scholar with a strong record of scientific publications, a solid history of obtaining competitive research funding and have experience or interest in developing interdisciplinary research partnerships and approaches. Previous involvement or interest in collaborating with government departments and agencies, non-government organizations, and private sector commercial partners is also desirable. Applications are welcome from strong candidates in a variety of disciplines. The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenured or tenure-track position at the associate or full professor level. This chair is to be awarded for a seven-year period and is renewable.
