The fifteenth annual Canadian Statistics Student Conference (CSSC) will take place on Saturday, May 29th, 2027, at Université Laval in Québec City, Québec, one day before the Statistical Society of Canada’s Annual Meeting begins. The CSSC is a student-led conference that brings together undergraduate and graduate students from across Canada to share their research and make connections with fellow students.
Registration and abstract submission will open in January 2027.
Student Research Presentations
Students will have the opportunity to present their research in statistics through oral and poster presentations. These sessions provide an opportunity to share research findings and receive feedback in a lower-stake environment compared to the usual large-scale conferences.
Keynote Address and Workshop
CSSC 2027 will feature a keynote address by a distinguished statistician during which they will offer insights into their research and experiences. Students attending will also have the opportunity to participate in a scientific communication workshop aimed at developing skills for effectively presenting and communicating statistical research.
Social
As part of CSSC 2027, we will have social breaks between events and a networking lunch to engage with other students, invited speakers, and conference sponsors. At the end of the day, we will host a social event to conclude the conference.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded at the undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD levels for each of the following:
- Best Virtual Poster Presentation
- Best In-Person Poster Presentation
- Best In-Person Oral Presentation
To encourage and recognize scientific communication in both official languages, presentations delivered in French will also be eligible for an additional award:
- Best In-Person French Presentation
We also plan to distribute several Travel Awards to oral and poster presenters. The number of travel awards will depend on available funding.
