Job Title: Biostatistician

Classification: Full-time, salary

Location: Vancouver, BC

Role: The biostatistician will be part of a growing analytics team. He or she will conduct a variety of statistical analyses (see below), provide statistical support and guidance to clients, assist in writing grants, statistical analysis plans, and assist in writing reports and manuscripts.

Employment Requirements:

  • Education: Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, or related field with at least two years of work experience.
  • Personal attributes: Independent worker with attention to detail, an ability to learn new methods and strong problem solving. The candidate should have an ability to communicate effectively, in non-technical terms, with project team members and clients. An ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Computer competency: The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of R, SAS (ideally including SAS macros), and Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of STATA and WinBUGS/ OpenBUGS are considered assets.
  • Statistical competency: Strong basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods. Familiarity with techniques such as survival analysis (including parametric methods), longitudinal data analysis, time series, meta-analysis and working with large data sets.
  • Background in health sciences, technical writing skills and work in a global setting would be great assets.
