Manager, Research and Statistical Services


EMPLOYMENT TYPE:      Regular, Full-time
SALARY RANGE: Min $89,296; Mid $111,619; Max $133,942

JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager, Research and Statistical Services leads a multidisciplinary team of Medical Analysts, Statisticians, and Data Analysts who participate in research and development activities including data compilation, analysis, tool development, reporting and educational content development. This is achieved through the effective management of the Senior Statistician, the Research Supervisor and the Project Administrator.

The Manager, Research and Statistical Services oversees the implementation of operational plans for the Development section in support of the strategic direction and plans of the Research Department. This includes contribution to the development of detailed operational plans including priorities and objectives. The incumbent works closely with the Manager, Research Operations, and the Director, Research to ensure that departmental and organizational priorities, projects/initiatives, operations and resources are appropriately managed. Close collaboration with managers or delegates from other departments is also required.

This position acts as a liaison and advisor to various internal clients in the development of new or enhanced business solutions and/or the optimization of service delivery. The incumbent also represents the CMPA in dealings and negotiations with various external contacts and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Bio-Statistics, or other related field of study
  • Diploma or degree in Management
  • Extensive knowledge in Research methods and approaches
  • Member of a Statistical Society (asset)
  • Expert knowledge of data mining and modelling methods and techniques and multivariate statistical analysis (classification, estimation, prediction, affinity grouping or association rules, clustering and description and visualization)
  • Familiarity with computer programming and software, particularly a statistical analysis package as well as a familiarity with graphic software
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in the Health Care Sector would be an asset
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience including five years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role
  • Extensive experience in conducting research projects including the design, execution, analysis and reporting of findings
  • Proven ability to perform management activities including human, financial and material resources
  • Excellent leadership skills, with ability to foster a positive and collaborative environment in a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills accompanied by excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to motivate, challenge and promote professional growth in a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable workers
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure
  • Adherence to standard project management methods and tools
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills
