The Medical Council of Canada was established in 1912 under the Canada Medical Act. It was subsequently incorporated without share capital under the Canada Corporations Act as the Medical Council of Canada - Le Conseil médical du Canada (MCC). The MCC is a registered charity under subsection 149(1) (f) of the Income Tax Act.

The MCC's original purpose was to establish and promote a qualification in medicine, known as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada - le Licencié du Conseil médical du Canada, such that holders thereof are acceptable to provincial licensing authorities for the issuance of a licence to practise medicine. The MCC maintains a national registry of physicians and their qualifications throughout their professional careers. The MCC also initiates and promotes research and development in the evaluation of medical knowledge and competence of undergraduate and graduate medical students and practitioners of medicine and other health sciences.

SENIOR ANALYST - RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

The Medical Council of Canada requires a Senior Analyst, to work with various departments to establish reliable operations between scoring systems and to provide file conversion and programming support. The incumbent will be responsible for statistical analysis, quality assurance, process automation and research studies on examination data. The Senior Analyst must possess well-developed and effective communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Automating reports and drafting procedures on processing examination data
  • Resolving information access and distribution related issues and reporting database applications issues to ensure system integrity and accuracy of data
  • Analyzing examination data and conducting quality assurance studies to ensure the integrity and quality of all data - includes performing statistical and psychometric analyses
  • Conducting routine maintenance of databases and analysis tools
  • Presenting research results to various committees in both written and oral formats
  • Performing other duties as required by the supervisor

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Master's degree in statistics, educational measurement, or other related field
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in a data analysis, programming and research environment, other work related experience may be considered as comparable
  • Ability to streamline and automate statistical analyses and reports
  • Ability to suggest and conduct analyses to address research questions
  • Ability to perform literature searches, program, and write reports
  • Excellent PC skills including advanced SQL reporting, Access and Excel, SAS and R. Certified SAS programmer preferred
  • Knowledge of statistical, research and measurement principles and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple deadlines and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Bilingual (English and French) considered an asset but not required
