Position: Quantitative Analyst, Hockey (NHL)

Smartodds is currently recruiting for the role of Quantitative Analyst with an emphasis on statistical analysis and model development for ice hockey, in particular with regards to the NHL.

Purpose of the role

• Our new NHL quant will take the lead role in developing and back testing predictive models for ice hockey.
• The role will involve a significant amount of statistical analysis of ice hockey data, which includes analysis of the integrity of the data and sourcing new data where appropriate.
• The predictions derived from the models will be issued to our clients in the betting sector, and as such a key requirement of the role is to liaise with our clients to ensure that they are fully trained to understand strengths and weaknesses of the model predictions, and create and maintain documentation to assist in this task.
• The role will extend to quantitative research across a range of sports as required.

Key Skills / Qualifications

• A deep knowledge and passion for the NHL and ice hockey in general.
• An outstanding knowledge of advanced statistical principles and modelling techniques - MSc or PhD in statistics is preferred although other mathematical backgrounds will be considered.
• Strong programming skills, with a preference for (but not limited to) R, Python and C++.
