The Departments of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CE&B) and Pathology and Molecular Medicine (P&MM) at McMaster University are offering a three-year renewable faculty position in biostatistics at the level of Assistant Professor. We are looking for candidates with research interests and skills in the methods applied to diagnosis, prognosis and biomarkers.
Qualifications include a PhD in biostatistics or a related field and a promising record of research demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation on peer-reviewed funded research. An excellent record of collegiality and collaboration, a comprehensive understanding of clinical-research design, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a willingness to learn and understand research needs specific to Pathology and Laboratory Medicine are prerequisites for this position.
Besides developing their own independent research program, the successful applicant will foster faculty research initiatives in P&MM by helping translate ideas into researchable questions, provide guidance for the design, development and execution of new studies, and foster skills in evidence-based research principles and methodologies. The successful applicant will contribute to educational programs such as the Health Research Methodology Graduate Program and the Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours Program. Experience in the application and teaching of biostatistics in health research and statistical consultation with clinical and laboratory researchers are important attributes.
