Session Description:

In this session, we want to hear from researchers in teaching and learning from Statistics and Applied Statistics fields regarding their educational practices that can create joy in the learning environment among students to help maximize students’ performance and maintain long-term benefits in Statistical education. To create an engaging environment, research-based educational strategies need to be modified to make them more subject-specific and relevant for diverse students in higher educational settings. This session will showcase challenges in implementing many of the teaching approaches known to be effective for learning in Statistical education and tactics used to overcome those issues.

To create a solid conceptual foundation of Statistical methods and their application, implementing innovative educational tools and open education platforms are highly effective and allow students to have access to learning resources for the longer term. In this session, presenters will show their innovative teaching tools that helped create a better learning environment in the educational field of Mathematics, Statistics, and Population and Public health.

EDI practices:

To maintain equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) practices in organizing this session, we invited diverse communities (e.g., women and members of visible minorities). We tried to bring diverse perspectives and educational practices from three areas of Statistics. Due to non-response and unable to join the meeting we could not have any women as a presenter.
