Assistant Professor – Biostatistics
The Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Biostatistics. The expected start date is July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.
The Division of Biostatistics seeks an exceptional scholar with evidence of excellence in teaching and research from any area of Biostatistics. Qualified applicants would have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, applied mathematics, bioinformatics, computer science or a related quantitative field by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated expertise in the development of biostatistical methods, interest in applied collaborative research, and enthusiasm along with experience in graduate training and classroom teaching.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence as demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing. Evidence of the ability to obtain research funding is required. The successful candidate’s core research in statistical methodology should be accompanied by collaborative applications in health sciences.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier, a teaching statement, sample course syllabi, and the teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach advanced research courses, to supervise graduate students, to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program in biostatistics.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The mission of the Division of Biostatistics is to advance the development and application of statistical methodology to further our understanding of data arising in public health, the health sciences and biology. The Division offers both Doctoral (PhD) and Master’s (MSc) degrees in Biostatistics.
