Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Statistics

The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a full-time teaching stream appointment in the field of Statistics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and will commence on July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

We seek enthusiastic and innovative individuals pursuing an academic career in teaching Statistics. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching as well as strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates must have at least a Masters degree in Statistics or related discipline, by the time of the appointment. A PhD is preferred. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at the undergraduate level, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and online material/lectures. Demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices, curriculum improvement, teaching innovation and demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities are expected. Successful candidates must present clear evidence of both ability and ambition to significantly enhance our undergraduate Statistics program and exert creative educational leadership. Responsibilities will include undergraduate teaching, managing teaching assistants, developing course materials, and curriculum development. In addition, each faculty member in the Department assumes some responsibility for student recruitment and departmental administration. Faculty members are also encouraged to initiate and supervise undergraduate projects. 
 

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical practice will be provided through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier, a teaching statement, sample course syllabi, and the teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as strong endorsements by referees of high standing highlighting both excellent teaching and commitment to pedagogical enquiry and teaching innovation. 
 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
