Centre for Contact Lens Research (CCLR)
The Centre for Contact Lens Research (CCLR) is currently seeking to employ a Head of Statistics and Data Management. This position will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in all statistical matters related to the clinical and laboratory based research that is conducted at the CCLR. The incumbent will also head up the Data Management Team and assume supervisory responsibilities for that group.
The CCLR was established to meet a need for objective, academically-grounded research to support the contact lens industry. It houses both a clinical research facility, in which subjective and objective data are collected on human study participants, and a biomaterials laboratory facility. The primary focus of the CCLR is to understand the anterior part of the eye and its response to contact lens wear. It is currently among the leading organizations worldwide dedicated to research on the ocular surface of the eye.
The successful candidate for this position must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Statistics with a solid knowledge of methods for the design and analysis of data related to clinical research. Preference will be given to individuals with a Biostatistics degree, particularly in the area of ocular or vision-based research. At least 3 years’ experience working as a Data Analyst in a clinical research or related environment is required and the applicant must have (proven) excellent writing and communication skills. Supervisory experience or the initiative to assume responsibility for supervising the CCLR Data Management Team is also needed.
This position is considered a support staff position within the University of Waterloo. The salary will range from $57,956 to $72,445, depending upon experience. It is hoped that the successful candidate will start employment by the Fall of 2013.
Applications should be submitted, by July 15, 2013, to Diane Bandura, CCLR Administrator at dcleasby@uwaterloo.ca. Candidates should be prepared to provide three letters of reference.
We invite applications from all interested applicants. However citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.
