Workshop on Survey Methods, June 10, 2001

The Analysis of Sample Survey Data

Speaker: John Eltinge, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Texas A&M

Data on important social, economic or epidemiological phenomena frequently are collected through complex sample designs that involve stratification, clustering or unequal selection probabilities. This workshop provides an introduction to methods for analysis of the resulting data. Following a brief overview of randomization based and model based inference, the workshop will focus on three main topics: categorical data analysis; regression and logistic regression; and quantiles. The underlying concepts will receive principal emphasis, and will be illustrated with extensive examples from economic, health and social surveys.
