The 12th annual Canadian Statistics Student Conference (CSSC) will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, the day before the 2024 Statistical Society of Canada Annual Meeting opens (https://ssc.ca/en/meetings/annual/2024-ssc-annual-meeting-st-johns/twelf...).

This conference is all about engaging students through research presentations, statistical skills development workshops and talks, and an interactive career session with invited statisticians from different professional areas. The abstract submission period has concluded, but registration remains open until May 15.

Keynote Address: Richard Cook

We are pleased to announce a keynote address given by Richard Cook, university professor at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, where he holds a mathematics faculty research chair. He also holds cross-appointments at the School of Public Health and Health Systems at Waterloo and the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. Dr. Cook was awarded the SSC–CRM Prize in 2007 and the SSC Gold Medal in 2017. In 2021, he was appointed as a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. His research is primarily focused on the analysis of life history data, the design and analysis of clinical and epidemiological studies, and statistical methods for incomplete data.

Scientific Workshop: Jiguo Cao

Jiguo Cao, professor in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Simon Fraser University, will be leading a tutorial on functional data analysis in R.
