The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for an Assistant Professor, specializing in Applied Statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower-level courses in Statistics and Applied Math, and upper-level courses in Statistics.
As a teaching-oriented institution and department, we are seeking a collegial, energetic and innovative individual who has successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level; will communicate effectively with students both in and out of the classroom; is able to instruct across a range of the undergraduate courses offered by the department; can collaborate with others to develop new and innovative courses; and can develop experiential and applied research opportunities for students.
Applicants will have a strong record of research productivity commensurate with their experience; demonstrated ability to establish a successful research program; and an ability to incorporate their research into applied learning opportunities for students. We seek applicants with particular experience or expertise in Data Analysis. Preference will be given to applicants whose expertise and/or research supports any of the areas of agriculture, health sciences, environmental studies, and digital media communications.
The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in departmental activities, service, events, and initiatives. A commitment to an ongoing program of professional development is required.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics, or solid indication of imminent completion, and will have completed a broad range of graduate courses in Statistics. Relevant post-doctoral or industrial experience is highly desirable. Preference will also be given to applicants with statistical consulting experience in academia and/or industry.
