Assistant Professor with specialization in Data Science and Statistics, Tenure-track faculty position
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University invites applications for a Tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Data Science and Statistics with a preferred starting date of July 1, 2020.
Accomplished researchers in all areas of Data Science and Statistics are invited to apply. The main criteria for selection are academic and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to work in an area of study that complements areas already represented within the department, and to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.
Relevant research areas in our department currently include Bayesian statistics, Biostatistics, Design of experiments, Non-parametric statistics, Statistical learning, Time series, Sequential decision making, and Uncertainty quantification. The successful candidate who joins this group will be expected to work in any of these or complementary areas of research, and to contribute to both the graduate and undergraduate programs.
Candidates must have a PhD (or an equivalent degree) in Statistics or in a related area, completed by the start date of the appointment. The successful candidates will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to research leadership and academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the Department’s statistics programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to make substantive contributions through service to the Department, the Faculty of Arts & Science, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
