Biostatistician

 

Concordia University is seeking to hire a specialist in applied statistics/biostatistics. The selected candidate will work in collaboration with the PERFORM Centre at Concordia University and receive an appointment to the academic unit in the Faculty of Arts and Science most appropriate to his/her disciplinary background. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program with research interests focusing on lifestyle choices and preventive health science, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team within Concordia and the PERFORM Centre.

 

The PERFORM Centre is a new, state-of-the-art research centre located in Montréal, Canada, and is part of Concordia University. The Centre is dedicated to conducting cutting edge lifestyle preventative health research. For more information, visit performcentre.concordia.ca.

 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a field relevant to the position and experience working with large cohort data management involving human research data. In addition to a strong publication record he/she will be expected both to develop an independent, externally-funded research program and to contribute expertise to broader team-funded projects. He/she must have the ability to collaborate and work in interdisciplinary research programs and have a strong interest in teaching and mentoring at all levels (undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral). The preferred candidate will have experience in the application of statistical methodology to preventive health science and epidemiological problems, as well as manipulation, extraction and analysis of data using, for example, time series analyses, multivariate data modeling, Bayesian, population weighting, or SEM. The candidate will have the ability to conduct complex statistical analyses using R, SAS or STATA or other statistical software packages and programming languages.
 

Subject to budgetary approval, we anticipate filling this position at the rank of Assistant Professor; however, appointments at a higher rank will be considered. While the start date for this position is negotiable, all applications should be received by August 1, 2013.
